More Forest School skills this week
More Forest School skills this week as the year 1 children learnt to bind using wire. They learnt to twist the wire in and out like a figure of 8 and then secure it by wrapping it round. This secured the binding and allowed the sticks to move.
Great fun investigating with the magnifying glasses. The children loved the photos of themselves with the magnifying glasses and seeing how it made their eyes bigger.
Mrs B set the children a weekly challenge to bind the wire tightly round the sticks to make magical wands. The children rose to the challenge and many took it further finding their own sticks and wrapping wool round the ends. They were brilliant at making it neat and tight.
We found north, east, south and west with the compasses and used them to explore direction continuing our learning in Geography.
Many spotted the local birds using the binoculars following on from last weeks forest school session when a flock of starling visited the trees. They have enjoyed trying to spot blackbirds from a story we heard and the jackdaws too.
